Vehicle Technology: Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: Smart, Cool and Connected, powered by ETTN (TBS4)

November 2, 2017 - 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Las Vegas Convention Center, Upper North Hall, N258

Presented by: John Waraniak, SEMA

Connected vehicle technologies integrate automotive and consumer electronics through systems of sensors, hardware and software. The number of connected cars is growing 30 percent a year and, by 2020 one in every five cars on the road will be connected to the internet. Connected vehicles exchange data with other vehicles through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications and with the roadside through Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications. Aftermarket systems will play a significant role in the success of V2V because the value depends on the percentage of surrounding vehicles that are similarly equipped. Standardized messaging, soon to be regulated, will allow aftermarket companies to develop and market products to retrofit and upgrade older vehicles with connected car features and tap into the 260 million vehicles already on U.S. roads. Attendees at this Forum will learn from automotive leaders and technology experts how to compete in today’s rapidly evolving automotive industry and leverage new growth opportunities and technological advancements in connected cars, autonomous vehicles and new mobility solutions.
